Staff Accountant
Location: St. Louis, MO

The Staff Accountant will aid the Chief Financial Officer in financial management of the Bank. This role will assist in the preparation of financial reports and general ledger recordkeeping that support sound internal controls in accordance with GAAP. This position has great upward mobility within the growing company.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conducting “smart purchases” by utilizing standard purchasing techniques, including obtaining multiple bids, working with our other branches to achieve economies of scale in our purchases, etc.
- Training personnel on The Banks objectives and providing the necessary information to achieve those objectives; ensuring that all branch personnel understand their individual departmental objectives; focusing the staff on providing timely and accurate information in an understandable format
- Ensuring that operations personnel have the tools they need to perform their jobs satisfactorily, including approved plans, a detailed budget, etc.; personally inspecting jobs to assess the progress on jobs and the game plan that operations personnel are employing to achieve the objectives
- Continually taking the pulse of clients through informal telephone conversations, lunch meetings, industry events, and formal customer satisfaction surveys; ensuring quick and proper responses to all reasonable customer requests
- Preparing appropriate annual, monthly, and weekly plans and ensuring that each person understands how to fit into those plans; setting reasonable goals with deadlines for completion and monitoring the compliance with such plans and achievement of such deadlines; drafting electronic correspondence, reports, and other forms of written communications
- Accounts Payable input and processing
- Month end GL closing entries
- Month end financial reporting for the Board
- Other financial reporting as needed
- Quarter End/Year End GL closing entries
- Quarter End regulatory reporting assistance
- Daily/monthly reconciling of correspondent and various asset and liability accounts, including securities
- Daily general ledger booking of entries
- Daily review of the general ledger for accuracy
- Prepare financials for the Holding Company
- Maintain proper documentation for financial recordkeeping and sound internal controls
- Work closely with internal and external auditors and tax accountants during audits and tax preparation.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community; ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
- Knowledge word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software and use of the Internet
- Ability to direct others and delegate tasks while prioritizing competing demands
